Manhattan Community Board 7 Survey

Manhattan Community Board 7 is exploring ways to best meet and respond to community needs and hopes to hear perspectives from neighborhood stakeholders, including community members. CB7 is conducting a brief survey that will close on July 30. All responses are anonymous. Take the survey here. 

NYC Summer Streets 

Summer Streets is an annual celebration of New York City's most valuable public space—our streets. This year, Summer Streets returns with more streets than ever before! Celebrate New York City's 400th anniversary by exploring over 400 blocks of car-free fun, fitness, and live entertainment as the city's streets transform into playgrounds for all to enjoy. On select Saturdays from 7:00am to 3:00pm, the usual traffic noise and honking horns will be replaced by open streets teeming with walkers, bikers, runners, and performers. Discover a wealth of free cultural programs, performances, fitness classes, interactive art, giveaways, and much more as you experience the city in a whole new way.

Summer Streets will take place in Manhattan on August 2, 9, and 16 on the following streets:

Brooklyn Bridge to Broadway and Dyckman Street

• Lafayette Street and Park Avenue between Brooklyn Bridge and East 110 Street
• East 110 Street between Park Avenue and Broadway
• Adam Clayton Powell Jr Boulevard between West 110 Street and West 125 Street
• Broadway between West 110 Street and Dyckman Street

National Night Out Against Crime

Join the NYPD and city officials on National Night Out Against Crime, Tuesday, August 5. National Night Out is an annual community-building campaign that promotes police-community partnerships to help make our neighborhoods safer, more caring places to live. It seeks to strengthen the relationship between neighbors and law enforcement, fostering a true sense of community. Join the 20th Precinct at Verdi Square (Broadway between 72nd Street and 73rd Street) from 6:00pm–8:00pm (the Lincoln Square BID will be there!), or join the Central Park Precinct/Transit District 1 at the entrance to Central Park at Columbus Circle from 4:00pm–7:00pm. Fresh Food for Seniors

The Fresh Food for Seniors program—presented by Council Member Gale Brewer in partnership with Manhattan Borough President Mark Levine—is back for 2025. The program offers a bag of locally grown fresh produce for $10 (a $15+ value) throughout the growing season. It’s pay-as-you-go, not a CSA-like subscription, so it’s a great value with no need for a commitment—just a little advance planning. Sign-up is simple: pay $10 cash two weeks in advance and then pick up your produce on pickup day. The next order date is August 6 for August 20. Free Summer Meals

The NYC Public Schools 2025 Free Summer Meals Program is now available all across New York City through Friday, August 29, 2025, for anyone 18 years old or younger. Breakfast and lunch are served at select NYC Public Schools, community pool centers, parks, and libraries. No sign-up, papers, or ID are necessary to get a meal. Click here to learn more and to find a free meal location near you. 

Rat Academy Training

Pest Control Services at the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene is hosting a virtual Rat Academy training sponsored by Manhattan CB7 and Nieuw Amsterdam Property Management. The training will take place on Monday, August 4, from 2:00pm to 4:00pm online. Building superintendents and staff, homeowners and tenants, managing companies, and business owners are welcome to participate to learn about rat prevention methods. Register online here.

DCWP Hearing: Rules Relating to License Application and Renewal

The Department of Consumer and Worker Protection (“DCWP”) is proposing to amend its rules to prohibit any person whose complete application is denied, or whose license is revoked, from applying for the same license again for a period of one year. The prohibition would apply to those applicants or licensees whose defective applications cannot be corrected within a year, and who were provided notice of the 12-month reapplication bar when their application was denied or their license was revoked. DCWP will hold a public hearing on the proposed rule. The public hearing will take place at 11:00am on Friday, August 15, 2025. The public hearing will be accessible by phone and videoconference. Elevator Outage at 72nd Street Subway Station

The elevators for both the uptown and downtown platforms of the 72nd Street 1, 2, and 3 station will be closed for replacement from approximately Monday, August 25, through the first quarter of 2026. Travel alternatives during this time include the M104 bus, the 66th Street-Lincoln Center Station (these elevators were recently replaced), and the 96th Street Subway Station. 2025 NYC Ferry Network Optimization

Since its launch in 2017, NYC Ferry has made several small-scale changes to its network to improve operations, but changes have not been considered at the system level. There is a proposed 2025 NYC Ferry Network Optimization Plan to improve the rider experience and make routes more efficient. The plan builds off of the goals and success of the NYC Ferry Forward Plan. The changes proposed in this plan are expected to improve the Ferry experience for riders and create a more efficient service. The Animal Care Centers of NYC (ACC) need your help! Due to critical capacity issues, the ACC recently had to suspend its animal intake.
