Visitor Traffic Climbs in Lincoln Square
May was a busy month in Lincoln Square. Through the Placer.ai platform, which analyzes anonymized mobile device data to track visitor activity and foot traffic, the BID gained valuable insights into district trends.
In May, Lincoln Square welcomed more than 1.2 million visitors, up more than 12% from April and nearly 2% from May 2025. Saturdays were the busiest days in the district, followed by Fridays and Sundays, underscoring strong weekend activity. The data also showed that the district’s most visited destinations in May were the Shops at Columbus Circle, Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts, and the Metropolitan Opera House.
These trends highlight Lincoln Square’s continued appeal as a destination for shopping, dining, culture, and entertainment.
Alternate Side Parking Suspension for Juneteenth

Juneteenth Sanitation Service Notice
There will be no trash, curbside composting, or recycling collection on Friday, June 19, in observance of Juneteenth. Residents who normally receive Friday trash, curbside composting, or recycling collection may place their material at the curb Friday evening, for collection beginning Saturday, June 20. Please note that residents may experience collection delays as the NYC Department of Sanitation works to collect the backlog of material. Click here for more details.
Street Closures
On Saturday, June 20, the Albanian Roots Parade & Festival will take place. The parade will begin at 10:00am at West 81st Street & Central Park West, and the route will end at West 68th Street. The festival will start at 1:00pm at West 72nd Street between Central Park West & Columbus Avenue. Expect street closures and delays, especially on West 68th Street and 72nd Street.

Con Edison Work Notices
Due to Con Edison gas work, West 64th Street between Broadway and Columbus Avenue will be closed to through traffic Monday through Friday between 9:30am and 3:30pm, now through Friday, July 31.
Con Edison is performing a Gas Upgrade on West 68th Street between Columbus Avenue and Central Park West, with work expected through Wednesday, September 30. Please expect limited street parking, temporary lane/bike lane closure, noise, and generator(s). The work schedule is as follows: Monday through Friday from 10:00am to 4:00pm, Saturday from 8:00am to 6:00pm, and Sunday from 9:00am to 6:00pm. The reference number is 26-03335.
Vote in the Primary Election
New York City’s Primary Election will take place on Tuesday, June 23. Polls will be open from 6:00am to 9:00pm on Election Day. Early voting is available now through Sunday, June 21. Learn more at https://www.vote.nyc/.
Update on Extell’s 67th Street Redevelopment
From Monday, June 8, throughSunday, June 21, the scope of work includes the demolition of the existing buildings located at 77 West 66th Street and 30 West 67th Street of the former ABC/Disney Campus, as well as mobilization of a foundation contractor and a site fence at West 66th Street. NYC Restaurant Week Registration Open
Registration is now open for NYC Restaurant Week Summer 2026, which runs from Monday, July 20, through Sunday, August 16, with an optional extension through Labor Day Weekend. Participating restaurants may offer two-course prix-fixe lunches and three-course prix-fixe dinners at $30, $45, or $60. Restaurants also receive added exposure through the NYC Restaurant Week website, press outreach, and social media promotion.
The final registration deadline is Thursday, July 30, but restaurants that register after Sunday, June 14, may not be included in all promotional elements or be live for program launch. Register here.
Fresh Food For Seniors
Seniors can place the first order of Council Member Gale Brewer’s annual Fresh Food for Seniors program from Wednesday, June 29, through Thursday, July 2, at her District Office (563 Columbus) from 12:00pm to 5:00pm. The first pickup will take place on Wednesday, July 15, at the Goddard Riverside Older Adult Center (593 Columbus) from 1:00pm to 3:00pm. The cost is $10, while the bag of fresh produce from local farmers is worth about $15.

New York City Emergency Management (NYCEM) has launched Notify NYC’s opt-in SMS short codes for summer 2026, enabling New Yorkers and visitors to receive real-time emergency notifications during major events taking place across the city this summer.
New Yorkers and visitors can text SUMMER26, SUMMER26ESP, or SUMMER26FRE to 692-692 (NYCNYC) to receive alerts and event updates in English, Spanish, and French, respectively. Message and data rates may apply.
New Yorkers and visitors can also receive updates through the Notify NYC WhatsApp Channel by following “Notify NYC – World Cup Alerts” in WhatsApp or by visiting on.nyc.gov/NNYCWhatsApp from a mobile device.
