Access to specialized healthcare is becoming even more convenient in Lincoln Square. Two new businesses have recently opened along Amsterdam Avenue, expanding the neighborhood’s healthcare offerings for people and their four-legged companions.

IVX Health has opened at 199 Amsterdam Avenue (at West 69th Street), bringing an outpatient infusion center to the neighborhood. The center provides infusion and injection therapies for patients living with a range of complex chronic conditions, including rheumatoid arthritis, Crohn’s disease, multiple sclerosis, psoriasis, severe asthma, and many others. Patients receive care in private treatment suites, with appointments available in the mornings, evenings, and on weekends.

Pet owners can also find specialized veterinary care at Hudson Valley Veterinary Dermatology, now open at 149 Amsterdam Avenue (between West 66th and West 67th Streets). Led by board-certified veterinary dermatologist Dr. Jeanne Budgin, the practice specializes in diagnosing and treating skin, ear, and allergy conditions in dogs and cats. The clinic works closely with primary veterinarians to care for pets experiencing chronic itching, recurring ear infections, hair loss, allergic skin disease, and other complex dermatological conditions.

Horror fans, mark your calendars! Film at Lincoln Center will welcome back its acclaimed Scary Movies festival from Wednesday, August 12, through Thursday, August 20. Now in its 14th year, the nine-day festival showcases 16 films spanning horror, thrillers, dark fantasies, black comedies, and more, along with filmmaker Q&As, special guest appearances, and restored cult classics. All films will screen in the Walter Reade Theater (165 West 65th Street, between Broadway and Amsterdam Avenue).

This year’s lineup includes the Opening Night film Buddy and Closing Night selection The Threshing, along with anniversary screenings of Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer (40th anniversary) and Wendigo (25th anniversary). Audiences can also catch a new 35mm print of Cam, along with films from emerging and acclaimed filmmakers. Whether you’re a longtime horror fan or simply looking for a unique night at the movies, this killer lineup is sure to deliver a reel scare.

Tickets are on sale now and start at $18. Discounted tickets are available for students, seniors, persons with disabilities, and Film at Lincoln Center members. Perk up! Lincoln Square has a new spot to kickstart your morning or cure the afternoon slump. Croissant et Café is now open at 154 West 70th Street, between Broadway and Columbus Avenue, in the former home of Café Mozart. It’s a welcome addition to the neighborhood.

True to its name, the café serves coffee and espresso drinks alongside a selection of baked goods, specializing in croissants and focaccia. Persian ice cream is also on the menu for those looking to try something luxurious. With a variety of treats on hand, there’s something to satisfy every craving.

Croissant et Café is open Monday through Saturday from 7:00am to 4:00pm and is closed on Sundays, with plans to expand to seven-day-a-week service by September. Stop by on your next coffee run. Be sure to give Lincoln Square’s newest café a warm welcome!

There’s even more brewing in Lincoln Square! A new sushi restaurant is planned for the storefront next door to Croissant et Café, adding another dining option to the block. Brasserie Boulud, which will also include Épicerie Boulud (1900 Broadway, at West 64th Street), is expected to open soon following renovations. Signage also recently went up at The Shops at Columbus Circle (10 Columbus Circle) announcing that Madewell will open on the second floor. Celebrate America’s Story

Families can start their 4th of July celebrations on Wednesday, July 1, with the New York Public Library for the Performing Arts during Music Storytime with Intersection Music and Arts, Inc. in the Karen and Richard LeFrak Lobby in David Geffen Hall (10 Lincoln Center Plaza at Broadway and West 65th Street). Presented as part of Lincoln Center‘s Summer for the City, this free, interactive children’s program offers two sessions from 11:00am–12:00pm and 1:00pm–2:00pm. In celebration of America’s 250th birthday, children can help bring Ian Falconer’s beloved book “Olivia Forms a Band” to life by joining a lively play-along band featuring shakers and rhythm sticks.

Also on Wednesday, July 1 at 7:30pm, continue the festivities with Declaration: Songs of Democracy, Voices of Hope, part of Summer for the City, in the Wu Tsai Theater in David Geffen Hall. Curated by pianist Lara Downes, this moving evening explores the American experience through world-premiere compositions performed by the American Composers Orchestra alongside guest vocalists and jazz artists. Before the performance, visitors can also explore the lobby’s Hauser Digital Wall, featuring video portraits captured across the country.

Continue the celebration on Friday, July 3 at 7:30pm with the New York Philharmonic‘s American Promise in David Geffen Hall’s Wu Tsai Theater. Conducted by Eduardo Marturet, the program features breakout violinist Amaryn Olmeda performing Barber’s iconic Violin Concerto, alongside works by John Williams, Margaret Bonds, and Florence Price, before concluding with Tchaikovsky’s 1812 Overture. Guests can also purchase VIP tickets, which include an exclusive post-performance champagne reception and artist talk.

Rounding out the weekend’s musical lineup on Sunday, July 5 at 6:00pm, head over to the David Rubenstein Atrium (1887 Broadway between West 62nd and West 63rd Streets) for Louis Armstrong at 125, America at 250: A Birthday Celebration for Pops. Presented as part of Summer for the City, this performance is led by trombonist Sam Chess and curated by Wynton Marsalis, honoring the remarkable musical legacy and cultural impact of Louis Armstrong.

Local teens can also join the fun with the New York Public Library at its Riverside Library (127 Amsterdam Avenue between West 65th and West 66th Streets) during Virtual Teen Comics Chat – Disability Pride Month and the USA’s 250th Anniversary on Thursday, July 16 from 4:00pm–5:00pm. This free online discussion for ages 13 to 18 highlights comics inspired by Disability Pride Month and America’s 250th anniversary. Participants who later visit Riverside Library or the 53rd Street Library can also pick up a free comic book while supplies last. 

You can also commemorate the nation’s milestone at the American Folk Art Museum (2 Lincoln Square at Columbus Avenue and West 66th Street) by exploring Folk Nation: Crafting Patriotism in the United States, on view through September 13. A sweet new chapter is unfolding in Lincoln Square with the arrival of two new businesses. PowerHouse Books, a renowned independent bookseller and publisher, has opened on the third floor of The Shops at Columbus Circle (10 Columbus Circle), while Lady M Cake Boutique, the internationally recognized luxury confectionery brand, recently soft-opened at 1 West 60th Street (between Broadway and Columbus Avenue).
