In anticipation of the gradual reopening of New York City, the NYC BID Association has been working with SBS and NYC EDC to provide NYC BIDs and their member businesses with access to discounted personal protective equipment (PPE). In accordance with the Governor’s Executive Order, open businesses are currently required to provide face coverings for their employees who interact with customers or the public. Further guidance on this executive order is available on the NYS Department of Health website. Businesses in Lincoln Square can get face coverings and other PPE at discounted rates from two suppliers with vetted supply chains.

Corey Benbasset and his NYC-based company PPE Solutions USA have agreed to fulfill orders that come from a NYC BID or BID businesses. PPE Solutions USA will supply FDA Level 1 Facemasks at $0.46 each (packages of 50), and gloves at $0.30 per pair (packages of 100 gloves). To order, please contact Corey Benbasset at corey@ppesolutionsusa.com, and don't forget to use the code NYCBID.

Established in 2005, twelveNYC is a Brooklyn-based global sourcing company with a deep-rooted, mature supply chain. In response to COVID-19, they have moved production focus to supply high volume PPE. Their company is 100% women-owned and comprised of global teams managing production and logistics around the clock. They have a full range of PPE products that can be ordered directly from their website. However, businesses located in the Lincoln Square BID may email them at ppe@twelvenyc.com, and use the code NYCBID for a 10% discount. You can read more about twelveNYC here.

In addition to the PPE suppliers above, many of NYC’s garment industry companies have pivoted to producing reusable cloth masks during the pandemic. Fabricated in NYC’s Garment District using fabric made in the USA, the Atelier is producing and selling cloth masks for approximately $5 each. You can order them in large quantities from the Atelier on their website.

Other NYC-based companies have adapted their manufacturing facilities to supply hand sanitizers in large quantities. Located in the Bronx, Port Morris Distillery has expanded their operation to produce hand sanitizers in addition to their usual spirits inspired by Puerto Rican moonshine. Additionally, Urban Electric Power—who usually manufactures high-quality batteries—is now producing FDA approved hand sanitizer made here in New York.

This is not an exhaustive list of sources for PPE supplying New York City. These are a few suppliers who are based in New York City, some of whom have agreed to offer discounts to BIDs and their member businesses and organizations. As we begin to plan for reopening, it is important to remember that wearing a mask, practicing social distancing, and properly washing your hands are vital to reducing the spread of COVID-19.
