How Lincoln Square Can Make Keeping Your Resolutions a Breeze

It’s already a couple of weeks into 2025—which makes it the perfect time to check in on your resolutions and see how well you’re sticking to them! We’ve come up with a few resolutions and some ways that they can be made easier to keep thanks to the many businesses and organizations that call Lincoln Square home. Read on to get inspired!

If your resolution is to be more active…

Exercising more is one of the most common resolutions, but finding the right form of exercise can be a challenge! Lincoln Square’s two Equinox sports clubs (10 Columbus Circle at the Deutsche Bank Center and 160 Columbus Ave at W 67th) are an easy and luxurious way to exercise, with options to take classes, swim, or book sessions with a personal trainer. For yoga enthusiasts or aspiring yogis, CorePower Yoga (2030 Broadway at W 70th) offers a range of classes from intense Yoga Sculpt to calming evening yoga by candlelight. If you’re short on time, consider starting a routine at RX30 (55 Amsterdam at W 62nd), which offers personal training in addition to its signature 30-minute classes.

Already have a fitness routine and just need a bit more motivation? Sometimes the right activewear makes all the difference! For a new set of workout clothes, visit Gap (1988 Broadway between W 67th and W 68th) or stop by The Shops at Columbus Circle to peruse collections at Alo, Wilson, or lululemon. For more specific sport and outdoor gear, consider Arc’teryx (158 Columbus Ave at W 67th). Whether you’ll be walking, running, or playing a sport, you’ll need a good pair of sneakers. The experienced staff members at Fleet Feet (10 Columbus Circle) will help you find the perfect pair.

If your resolution is to get better sleep…

According to experts, most healthy adults need at least 7 hours of sleep per night, and sufficient sleep is critical for overall health. If 2025 is the year you finally get enough sleep, follow good sleep hygiene (like following a bedtime routine), and make sure your bedroom is setting you up for success. At Tempur-Pedic (2030 Broadway at W 70th) and Raymour & Flanigan (1961 Broadway at W 66th), you can find mattresses made to help you get a great night’s sleep. Quality sheets can also make a difference, so consider new bedding from local stores like West Elm (1870 Broadway at W 62nd), Pottery Barn (1965 Broadway W 67th), and Target (1863 Broadway at W 61st).

If your resolution is to learn more…

Whether you want to read more for enjoyment or to expand your knowledge via performances and events, there are few places better suited for learning than Lincoln Square. You can find reading material to purchase at Shakespeare & Co. (2020 Broadway between W 69th and W 70th), The Juilliard Store (144 W 66th between Amsterdam and Broadway), and The Met Opera Shop (140 W 65th). Alternatively, consider borrowing books and other materials from the Riverside Library (127 Amsterdam at W 65th), or stop by the New York Public Library for the Performing Arts (40 Lincoln Center Plaza), which provides access to rare collections and expert knowledge that may just inspire a new research project!

Are you more captivated by classes and discussions than books? Enroll in an adult class at the Kaufman Music Center (129 W 67th Street between Amsterdam and Broadway), where you can deepen your skills in music, theater, or dance, guided by expert instructors. For those over 60, Fordham University (113 W 60th Street at Columbus Ave) offers classes on a range of topics via College at 60, all of which are held on-site at the Lincoln Center campus, unless noted otherwise on their website. The spring term starts February 3, so sign up soon! Similarly, The Juilliard School (60 Lincoln Center Plaza) offers a variety of classes via the Juilliard Extension Spring 2025 Catalog. At Ethical Culture (2 W 64th Street at Central Park West), you can learn about different philosophies and ways of life thanks to a full calendar of discussions and talks. Meanwhile, The Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center (165 W 65th St) is the perfect place to learn about musical interpretation and technique as master artists share their knowledge via their series Inside Chamber Music and Master Classes (you can also watch previous classes and concerts here!). Finally, explore topics like folk art, craftsmanship, and design at the talks and tours that are regularly hosted by the American Folk Art Museum (2 Lincoln Square) and the Museum of Arts and Design (2 Columbus Circle).

If your resolution is to live a more sustainable lifestyle…

The first step in living a more sustainable lifestyle is to learn how to! One way to get up to date or stay informed is through resources like the UWSR Eco newsletter (sign up here), which shares information on eco-friendly initiatives and events. Next, consider your diet and try more meatless options, including plant-based restaurants like Le Botaniste (156 Columbus Ave between W 66th and W 67th). When you opt to cook at home, you can now take advantage of NYC’s citywide curbside composting program, which went into effect this past fall, to cut down on organic waste in landfills.

If your resolution is to travel more…

Fulfilling your New Year’s resolution to travel more doesn’t always require a passport (though you can find expedited passport and visa services at the AAA located at 1881 Broadway at W 62nd!)—sometimes the most rewarding journeys can be found right in your own neighborhood. Sample the neighborhood’s diverse range of restaurants—from cozy Italian trattorias like Cafe Fiorello (1900 Broadway between W 63rd and W 64th) to vibrant Asian fusion eateries like Momofuku Noodle Bar (The Shops at Columbus Circle)—where you can savor new flavors and try something completely different. For a cultural escape, explore the stunning architecture and vibrant performances at Lincoln Center, or visit the Museum of Arts and Design for a dose of contemporary artistry. Just steps from Lincoln Square, Central Park offers a peaceful retreat. Best of all, new businesses are always popping up (12 new businesses opened in 2024!), so there’s always something to discover, even while staying close to home.

If your resolution is to save money…

Find out about free local cultural activities, concerts, and talks through the Lincoln Square BID’s biweekly newsletter. You’ll also find a rotating schedule of free performances at Lincoln Center’s David Rubenstein Atrium (1887 Broadway between W 62nd and W 63rd). For discounts to cultural organizations across the city, take advantage of the New York Public Library’s Culture Pass. Meanwhile, you can take concrete steps towards financial security by exploring the resources available at institutions like Fidelity Investments (13A West 61st Street between Amsterdam and Broadway), TD Bank (1873 Broadway at W 62nd and 1995 Broadway at W 68th), the J.P. Morgan Financial Center (10 Columbus Circle), Citibank (1900 Broadway at W 63rd), Chase Bank (1860 Broadway at W 61st), and Capital One Cafe (1841 Broadway at W 60th).

This year, you can fulfill all your New Year’s resolutions right here in Lincoln Square, thanks to the vibrant array of organizations and businesses that make the neighborhood so unique. From keeping your body and mind active to making strides toward a more financially secure future, Lincoln Square offers all the resources you need to turn your your goals into your accomplishments.
