Shakespeare & Co. is Back on the Upper West Side
Nov 15, 2018Book lovers rejoice! Shakespeare & Co. is finally back on the Upper West Side. Opening the shop soon (we hear this week!) at 2020 Broadway between 69th and 70th Street, this independent book store will bring literature back to the neighborhood in a quintessentially New York way after 20 years.
The new Shakespeare & Co. will have a wide selection of fiction and nonfiction, plus children's sections. It will also have a cafe with seating and free WiFi, where customers can purchase coffee, pastries, and some sandwiches.
Special to Shakespeare & Co., the store offers two different printing machines for customers. The first, labeled an "Espresso Book Machine", can print books from 7 million public domain titles for purchase. The store can also print books for authors' own works. According to the website, it costs $15 to print a 150-page book. Plus, Shakespeare & Co. offers the option to personalize children's books with a name and photo. Moving forward, this spot will have various events, such as book launches, signings, and workshops for customers.
It's exciting to have a traditional book store back on the Upper West Side right here in Lincoln Square. Another reason to shop, dine, and visit our great neighborhood. Welcome Shakespeare & Co.!
