A Recap of This Year’s Openings in Lincoln Square

This year, Lincoln Square was buzzing with activity, from another summer of fun, free jazz concerts to the BID’s tireless efforts to make the neighborhood cleaner, safer, and more beautiful. Some of the most exciting occurrences for guests and visitors alike have been new business openings. Here’s a recap of all the new businesses that we welcomed to the neighborhood this year!

2024 kicked off with a long-awaited new grocery store, Morton Williams, opening at 2015 Broadway (between 68th and 69th Street). In the spring, EA Dumpling (201 Amsterdam between 69th and 70th Street), Cafe Aroma (1873 Broadway between 61st and 62nd Street), and Yumiko (169 Amsterdam between 67th and 68th Street) all opened their doors. These openings mean more fast-casual food options, as well as a trendy new dancewear boutique. Then, in July, Old John's Diner (148 W 67th Street between Broadway and Amsterdam) completed an expansion that expanded seating and added a beautiful new bar. At the end of the summer, Canto (2014 Broadway between 68th and 69th Street) began serving up its delicious cocktails and fresh Italian food.

Then, in September, The Shefa School (17 W 60th Street between Amsterdam and Broadway), a Jewish community day school with a specialized education environment for those with learning challenges, opened right in time for the school year. September also saw two openings at The Shops at Columbus Circle. A J.P. Morgan Financial Center opened on the first floor, and Shake Shack drew lines on the third floor. The culinary delights at The Shops continued to expand in October with Twin Tails, which serves Southeast Asian dishes in a luxe setting. Finally, in November, Capital One Café opened its doors at 1843 Broadway (at W 60th Street), offering handcrafted espresso drinks, coffee, and more (with a 50% discount on drinks if you pay with a Capital One debit or credit card).

Lincoln Square also has a temporary newcomer at 1875 Broadway (between W 61st and 62nd Streets)—pop-up shop Nirvanna Designs is selling knit goods for anyone in need of a pair of mittens or a cozy hat. All of these new stores and eateries have helped keep Lincoln Square exciting and bustling, and we look forward to welcoming more new businesses, like Lady M, La Pecora Bianca, and URvet Care, in 2025!
