AAA Now Providing DMV Services

In a continued effort to best serve its members, AAA Northeast is now providing DMV services at its Manhattan branch at 1881 Broadway. The DMV benefits are available to all AAA members living in New York, and no extra fees are charged.

With these new DMV benefits, AAA members can complete common transactions, including:

• Registration renewals
• Registration amendments (Acceptable changes: address change, vehicle color change.)
• Duplicate registrations
• License renewals (Any CDL license transaction must be handled at a DMV office.)
• Duplicate licenses (Duplicates can be issued if a license is lost or stolen, if you are changing an address, if you want to change your photo, or if you want to add or remove organ donor status.)
• License amendments (Only the following amendments can be performed: changing name, address, sex, height, eye color, date of birth; adding veteran status.)
• License upgrades (REAL ID, Enhanced Driver License).
• Non-driver ID renewals, duplicates and upgrades.
• Vision tests

New York residents can renew their license up to one year before and two years after expiration. This means you can schedule a visit to AAA to renew your license anytime within this period and it won’t affect the expiration date of your new driver's license or the fees charged. It’s important to be aware that AAA doesn’t process new license or permit applications, new non-driver IDs, new registrations, transfers of plates, requests for titles and any out-of-state license transfer or registration transactions. 

Before visiting a branch, members should make a reservation online at AAA.com/DMV. You can also download and complete any necessary paperwork beforehand to limit your time in the office. If you aren’t a AAA member but wish to take advantage of this benefit, you can join AAA for a limited time for $44, and you can protect additional drivers in your household for $24 each for the first year.
