Macy’s Fireworks for July 4th

The Macy's 4th of July Fireworks will be launched from barges along the Hudson River, lighting up the NYC Skyline and providing miles of prime viewing along the West Side of Manhattan. General Public Viewing is on a first-come, first-served basis. No ticket is required. The entry points for public viewing include:

  • Christopher Street and Washington Street
  • West 11th Street and Washington Street
  • West 12th Street and Washington Street
  • West 29th Street and 11th Avenue
  • West 40th Street and 11th Avenue

The fireworks show will also be broadcast on NBC. It is our understanding that there will be many street closures due to the festivities, including on the West Side Highway from Canal Street to West 79th Street. You should expect major delays. Dining Out NYC Presentation and Q&A 

NYC Department of Transportation (NYC DOT) is hosting a virtual presentation and Q&A webinar on Dining Out NYC on Monday, July 8, 2024, at 12:30 pm. Attendees will learn and have the opportunity to ask questions about the outdoor dining program. City of Yes for Housing Opportunity

The NYC City Planning Commission is holding a public hearing for City of Yes for Housing Opportunity on Wednesday, July 10, from 10:00am to 12:00pm in person, via videoconference, and by phone. The meeting will take place in the City Planning Commission Hearing Room, Lower Concourse, 120 Broadway, New York, NY 10271. Anyone attending the meeting in person is encouraged to wear a mask. A link to participate from a computer, tablet, or smartphone will be posted one hour in advance of the meeting. Dial-in numbers to participate by any phone will also be posted in advance of the meeting. You can also watch the meeting on YouTube. Free Summer Meals

 

Even when school is out, you can still enjoy breakfast and lunch! The 2024 Free Summer Meals Program from NYC Public Schools began on June 27 all across New York City, and it's totally free for anyone who's 18 years old or younger. You can find these meals at specific places like select NYC Public Schools, community pool centers, parks, and libraries. And guess what? You don't need to sign up, show any papers, or have an ID to get these meals. Just head to one of the spots and enjoy a delicious breakfast and lunch. The closest location to our neighborhood is at the High School for Law, Advocacy and Community Justice at the MLK Educational Complex located at 122 Amsterdam Avenue.
