Five Companies on One Stage This Summer at the BAAND Together Dance Festival
Jun 25, 2024Lincoln Center’s Summer for the City programming, now in its third year, is all about reaching new audiences and celebrating the countless stories that live in New York City. From silent discos to India Week—there’s truly something for everyone. For ballet enthusiasts—a group that can find classes and performances in Lincoln Square throughout the year—the BAAND Together Dance Festival is one opportunity that you won’t want to miss!
Between July 30 and August 3, the festival will provide performances that allow the audience to enjoy five of the City’s most celebrated dance companies on one stage. These “choose-what-you-pay” performances, starting at $5, will feature Ballet Hispánico, Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, American Ballet Theatre, New York City Ballet, and Dance Theatre of Harlem. Each dance will prove unique, with influences like the poetry of James Blake and the surrealist world of Belgian painter René Magritte. Book tickets here, then get ready for an evening of music and choreography at the David H. Koch Theater (20 Lincoln Center Plaza at W 62nd Street and Columbus Ave).
Looking to dance yourself or to enroll your child? Summer for the City will offer dance workshops with each of the companies, or you can sign your child or teen up for classes at Broadway Dance Center (37 W 65th Street between Columbus Ave and Central Park West). And don’t forget that the neighborhood now boasts two dance apparel stores, BLOCH (51 Columbus Ave at W 62nd Street) and Yumiko (169 Amsterdam Ave between W 67th and W 68th Street), equipped with everything from ballet shoes to leotards.
