Get to Know More About GrowNYC's Greenmarket
Aug 19, 2024Lincoln Square knows good food. In addition to housing some of the City’s best restaurants and a number of grocery stores, Lincoln Square offers visitors and residents the opportunity to buy fresh local produce at the twice-weekly Richard Tucker Park Greenmarket. The Greenmarket is held in Richard Tucker Park at W 66th Street between Broadway and Columbus Avenue. If feeling great isn’t impetus enough to visit the market, GrowNYC is also rolling out a new loyalty program!
GrowNYC’s Summer Shopper program is here to reward you for shopping locally all summer long. Here’s how it works: pick up your Summer Shopper punch card at the GrowNYC info tent at the Richard Tucker Park Greenmarket. Each time you visit the market, which is open on Thursdays and Saturdays from 8:00am to 4:00pm, bring your punch card by the info tent and get a punch—no purchase necessary. For five punches, score a stylish, foldable, nylon tote bag; for 10 punches, take home a handy whisk; complete your card to enter a free raffle to win a GrowNYC umbrella! An added perk: the GrowNYC info tent offers free samples of recipes made using seasonal produce from the market.

Lincoln Square is proud to house the Richard Tucker Park Greenmarket. Since 1976, GrowNYC has been working to create vibrant centers of community activity, ensure fresh, local food is available to all New Yorkers, and provide a crucial sales channel for farmers and producers in the Northeast. It is only fitting that the Greenmarket is held in Richard Tucker Park—named after the famed opera singer and cantor, Richard Tucker (whose grandson was just named the new FDNY commissioner!). The Tucker family continues to generously support green space and community in Lincoln Square. Visitors to the market can see Tucker’s bust, which has looked over the park since 1979 and enjoy their purchases while relaxing in the park’s seating area, whose tables, chairs, and red umbrellas are provided by the Lincoln Square BID.
