Let’s Talk Trash

Let’s Talk Trash

Speaking of trash, there are two new Citibins in Lincoln Square!

Our Citibins, which we purchased and were able to install as part of the Department of Sanitation (DSNY) and Mayor Adams’s Clean Curbs Program, have been a game changer for our sidewalks; the corners from 60th Street to 63rd Street on both sides of Broadway are free of bags. That’s why we decided to expand the program to the northern part of our district, and we’ve already seen a difference.

Our Clean Team used to put piles of bags at Richard Tucker Park to await pickup by DSNY, and now they all fit into one of the new Citibins, which hold 20 bags of garbage each. These bins are compact, discreet, and, most importantly, rodent-proof. And for those familiar with the original bins, you may have noticed they received a face lift recently. All of our Citibins are now wrapped in gray vinyl, which is graffiti proof, with LSBID and DSNY branding and a QR code leading to more information about the bins.

We continue to get great service from District 7, and work well with DSNY and the Department of Transportation (DOT) on finding eligible locations for the Citibins. We plan to expand this program even further in the near future, so keep an eye out!
