Lincoln Square Retail Roundup
Jan 3, 2023The future looks bright for Lincoln Square this year. The streets are crowded, our neighborhood is thriving, thanks in large part to our robust residential population, and we have several new businesses that plan to open this year.
Coming soon to the third floor of The Shops at Columbus Circle will be a new restaurant by Quality Branded, which owns and manages several upscale eateries in New York City and Denver. Morton Williams Supermarket is opening at 2017 Broadway (between 68th and 69th Street) on the ground floor of Dorchester Towers. Created by Chef Julian Medina and Louis Skibar of the Toloache Restaurant Group, El Fish Shack is a New England-style fish and seafood restaurant slated to open at 155 Amsterdam Ave (at 67th Street). Rampoldi New York, a restaurant by Monte Carlo Hospitality Group, is set to open at 49 West 64th Street (at Broadway). If you are wondering what's opening at 2030 Broadway (at W 70th St), you're spot on. A new food concept called Wonder, which claims to have the best restaurants under one roof, is coming soon by Marc Lore. And for those with fur babies, UrVet Care, which offers urgent, specialty, and primary care for pets, is opening at 169 Amsterdam Ave (between W 67th and W 68th Street).
Twelve great businesses opened in Lincoln Square in 2022. The Shops at Columbus Circle welcomed Venus et Fleur, Ladurée, Sunglass Hut, and Wilson during this past year. Very useful during this period, Summit Health opened at 1865 Broadway. For those looking to treat themselves, Less & More Nail Lab (167 Amsterdam Ave) provided another spot for that much-needed mani-pedi and Le French Wine Shop (161 Amsterdam Avenue) for your evening drink. JustFoodForDogs opened at 2025 Broadway, giving pet parents healthy food options for their dogs and cats. It was a great year for restaurants in Lincoln Square. Maman (152 Columbus Avenue), DiDi Dumpling (201 Amsterdam Avenue), Rosetta Bakery (1928 Broadway), and Tatiana at David Geffen Hall (10 Lincoln Center Plaza) all opened their doors.
However, as we welcome in 2023 and look forward to new retail expected to open this year, we also have to say goodbye to some wonderful businesses that closed their doors at the end of 2022, such as our favorite Sapphire Cuisines of India (2014 Broadway at 69th Street) and Bluebird London at The Shops at Columbus Circle. Also at The Shops, Sephora had its last day of business, but beauty lovers won't have to travel far to get their favorite products. Come February 10, Sephora will open a new store on Broadway between 61st and 62nd Street.
Of course, many of our existing businesses were very successful in 2022, which deserves celebration. At the end of December, Eater New York included Old John's Diner on its list of 23 Great Breakfast Options in Manhattan. With classic breakfast diner items like waffles, pancakes, french toast, hash browns, and countless egg options, it's no surprise Old John's made the list. You can make a reservation online here for breakfast, brunch, lunch, and even dinner at Old John's Diner (148 West 67th Street at Amsterdam Ave). Similarly, Chef/partner Michael Lomonaco's Porter House Bar and Grill made Thrillest New York's list of The 14 Best Steakhouses in NYC. With prime-aged, hormone-free steaks in classic dishes like the Porterhouse, Cowboy Rib Steak with garlic confit and arugula, and New York Strip, it has been a go-to destination since opening in 2006 at The Shops at Columbus Circle. Make your reservation for Porter House Bar and Grill online here. Restaurant Row, which includes The Smith, Cafe Fiorello, Bar Boulud, and Epicerie Boulud, all located at 1900 Broadway between 63rd and 64th Street, was very busy this past year. If you haven't been recently, make it your New Year's resolution to enjoy a meal at one of these great restaurants!
