Preparing for the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade

Thanksgiving is almost here, and that means that it's time to prepare for the iconic Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, a favorite for New Yorkers and tourists alike.

The Macy’s Pre-Parade Balloon-Inflation event is on Wednesday, November 23rd, from 12:00pm – 6:00pm. The public entrance point can only be accessed at 72nd Street and Columbus Avenue. All spectators are subject to security screening by NYPD. New this year, as guests exit the balloon inflation area, they will have the opportunity to see select float assembly between 81st and 86th Streets.

The Parade is marking its 96th year on Thursday, November 24th at 9:00am with its traditional 2.5-mile route from the Upper West Side to Midtown. It begins at West 77th Street and Central Park West and makes its way down Central Park West through Columbus Circle before turning down Central Park South and heading into Midtown. Click here to view the full route.

Starting Tuesday, November 22nd, there is a no parking advisory on many of the streets in Lincon Square. Click here to see the alert from the NYPD. Many streets will be closed due to the Parade. View the full list of street closures from the Mayor's Community's Notice here, the NYPD here, and the NYC Department of Transportation here. Bus routes and Subway stations will also be affected.
