Restaurants: Stay Updated on Dining Out NYC

Dining Out NYC is the City's new permanent program to make outdoor dining more accessible, safe, and inviting. It is finally being implemented, so make sure that your business is properly prepared to participate!

As of November 1, 2024, food service establishments that applied to Dining Out NYC on or before August 3, 2024, must comply with the new program’s design requirements. For more information on the requirements, review the NYC Department of Transportation’s (NYC DOT) interactive Setup Guides.

Food service establishments that did not apply to the Dining Out NYC program by August 3, 2024, should remove their outdoor dining setups immediately, if they have not already done so.

And, as a reminder, all roadway cafes are only permitted to operate from April 1 through November 29 each year. So, whether or not you have applied for the program, make sure that your roadway café is removed by November 30, 2024, to avoid fines! As you dispose of your outdoor dining setup, make sure to follow the NYC Department of Sanitation (DSNY) rules for disposal of commercial waste and recycling and consult with your designated carter on removal.
