Savor the Taste of Freedom in Lincoln Square this Passover
Apr 3, 2024Liberate yourself from the kitchen this Passover (the holiday begins on the evening of April 22) and consider letting one of Lincoln Square’s delicious eateries do the hard work for you. Whether you want to cater your Seder, enjoy a special meal during the eight-day holiday, or sample some Passover desserts, Lincoln Square has everything you need.
If you prefer to dine out on Passover, the Passover Menu at Rosa Mexicano (61 Columbus Avenue at W 62nd Street) is available throughout the holiday and includes options like mixed greens salad, roasted half chicken, and flourless chocolate cake. Bar Boulud (1900 Broadway at W 64th Street) will offer a three-course Passover menu on April 22, with options like beet salad, black sea bass, and Meyer lemon torta. Be sure to make your reservation before Friday, April 19, at 3:00pm. If you’re hosting a small meal at home, why not try Chef Daniel Boulud’s (owner of Bar Boulud, Épicerie Boulud, and Boulud Sud) Traditional Brisket Dinner for 4. You can have the meal delivered straight to your door, and it features slow-braised beef brisket, spring vegetables, and crispy potato latkes. For dessert, order Chef Boulud’s Passover Gift Box, which includes holiday classics like macaroons and chocolate covered matzah toffee with pecans. You can also treat yourself to Passover flourless cakes from Breads Bakery (1890 Broadway at W 63rd Street). The three-pack order includes two flourless brownie cakes and one coconut chocolate chip cake shipped to you through Gold Belly to enjoy during the holiday.
If you’re having a large Seder at home, order catering from one of Lincoln Square’s grocery stores. You can purchase your Seder staples like charoset, favorites like matzoh ball soup, and everything in between. Whole Foods Market (10 Columbus Circle) offers full meals with mains like Burgundy-braised brisket, champagne Dijon salmon, and lemon-herb roasted chicken, in addition to sides – or you can order individual dishes and desserts. The Passover catering at Morton Williams (2015 Broadway between W 68th and W 69th Street) is kosher-style and includes options like roasted turkey breast, herb crusted rack of lamb, grilled or poached salmon, and beef brisket. Don’t forget to order appetizers like gefilte fish, accompaniments like potato kugel, and desserts like seven layer cake. Gourmet Garage (155 W 66th Street between Broadway and Amsterdam Avenue) offers both a Kosher for Passover menu and Non-Kosher for Passover menu. While both include items like brisket, salmon, and chicken, the kosher menu also offers main dishes like schnitzel, meatballs marinara, and stuffed cabbage, and the non-kosher offers a Seder Plate and macaroons for dessert.
If you insist on doing some or all of the cooking, Whole Foods Market, Morton Williams, Gourmet Garage, and Target (1863 Broadway at W 61st Street) will also have all the ingredients and Passover essentials you could need. For recipe inspiration, check out Shakespeare & Co. (2020 Broadway between W 69th and 70th Street) for a Passover cookbook. You can also get a Passover Haggadah for everyone in the family - including the kids, or story books for children about the holiday. A Seder is never complete without the four cups of wine. For a kosher selection, head over to Le French Wine Shop (161 Amsterdam Avenue at W 67th Street). Visit Williams Sonoma at The Shops at Columbus Circle or Pottery Barn (1965 Broadway at W 67th Street) if you need a new Seder plate or other items for your table.
This Passover, there’s no need to slave away in the kitchen (unless you really want to). Let Lincoln Square’s eateries do the heavy lifting for you. All you need to worry about is how you’ll survive through the Seder until dinner time arrives!
