West Side Story: How It Speaks to Us Now at NYIT

As part of a series from the New York Institute of Technology called New York Tech Live!, enjoy a free virtual event on Wednesday, March 24 meant to bridge a connection between the university and the community.

This live multimedia event will showcase New York Tech's home, the Upper West Side, as a crossroads of history, culture, and technological change. Four iconic New Yorkers will speak in a panel discussion about the monumental impact of West Side Story, the award-winning 1961 adaptation of the classic romantic tragedy "Romeo and Juliet", on their lives and work, set in the context of New York City and urban planning for the Upper West Side.

The panelists are: Esmeralda Santiago, author of When I Was Puerto Rican and Almost a Woman; Mike Wallace, Pulitzer Prize-winning author and historian; Bobby Sanabria, Grammy-nominated musician; and Sean Khorsandi, New York Tech Instructor and Executive Director, Landmark West. The panel will be moderated by Jonathan Goldman, a Professor of English at the New York Institute of Technology.

West Side Story: How It Speaks to Us Now takes place virtually from 3:00pm to 5:00pm. Click here to fill out a registration form to attend.
