A Unique Festival Brings Back Live Dance

Love dance? Then you won’t want to miss an unprecedented festival coming up this month as part of Lincoln Center’s Restart Stages. From Tuesday, August 17 to Saturday, August 21, seven of New York City’s most well-known and inspiring dance companies will come together on an outdoor stage to offer free live dance performances for the BAAND Together Dance Festival. Each night at 7:30pm in Damrosch Park, members of Ballet Hispánico, Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, American Ballet Theatre, New York City Ballet, and Dance Theatre of Harlem will perform new works and repertory favorites, offering audiences a unique opportunity to experience programming curated collaboratively by the artistic directors of these companies. Click here to learn more and view the festival schedule. Most of the performances are open to general admission on a first-come, first-served basis beginning 10 minutes before the show. You can also reserve free tickets through the Restart Stages TodayTix ticket lottery, which you can find out more about under each performance listing.

As an added bonus and for more dance fun, members of these companies will teach kids and families how to dance in workshop sessions at 4:00pm before each performance across the campus on the Hearst Plaza. From Salsa to West African dance style Kuku to signature Swan Lake choreography, the whole family will learn some great moves. Families can reserve spots through the Restart Stages TodayTix lottery for free. If there are available spots once the workshop is ready to start, non-ticketed guests may be invited to join in. Find out more about these workshops on the BAAND Together page here.
