The Australian International Screen Forum in New York City is hosting an Australian-focused film festival in Lincoln Square between Tuesday, March 19 and Friday, March 22. Screening in the Film Society of Lincoln Center's Elinor Bunin Munroe Film Center (with some in the Walter Reade Theater at 165 West 65th St. and some in the Francesa Beale Theatre at 144 West 65th St.), this festival will showcase groundbreaking new Australian content, and feature workshops with leading film industry mentors and exciting new Australian filmmakers. The Opening Night film is the New York premiere of Jennifer Kent’s The Nightingale which won the special jury prize at the Venice Film Festival, with indigenous actor Baykali Ganambar winning the Marcello Mastroianni prize for best young actor. Also, the festival will screen Muriel's Wedding for the 25th Anniversary Celebration followed by a special conversation with Toni Collette, plus other interesting films and Q&A sessions.
