Book Lovers Day

Friday, August 9 is National Book Lovers Day! This fun, annual holiday gives bookworms and book lovers the perfect excuse to treat themselves to a new novel or some quality reading time.
If you're looking to score a new book for yourself or a special book lover in your life, pop into one of three book stores here in Lincoln Square. Up at 2020 Broadway, independent bookstore Shakespeare & Co. offers a wide selection of fiction and nonfiction, plus children's sections and an "Espresso Book Machine", which can print books from 7 million public domain titles for purchase.
You can also head to The Shops at Columbus Circle (10 Columbus Circle) and visit Amazon Books on the third floor. Amazon Books has a children's section and a rotating selection of Amazon favorites and recommendations, unique to the demographics of Amazon book buyers. You can easily pick up best sellers and books that are popular with Amazon users.
If your reading taste is more musically academic, head to the Juilliard Bookstore on 66th Street and browse through music workbooks, classic novels, and history books.
Or maybe you just want to celebrate with an afternoon of browsing the library and checking out a good book. Head to either the Riverside Library (127 Amsterdam Avenue) or the Library for Performing Arts (40 Lincoln Plaza) and check out one of many terrific novels and non-fiction pieces. Then, grab a seat and get to reading or head outside to sit at the tables and chairs in Richard Tucker Park or Dante Park and enjoy summer weather while you read.
Lincoln Square also has a number of cafés at which you can relax with tea or coffee and your new book. There is a café at Shakespeare & Co. that looks out onto Broadway. Or, head to Épicerie Boulud (at 64th Street) or Bread's Bakery (at 63rd Street), both on Broadway with outdoor seating, or you can stop at Bouchon Bakery & Café on the third floor of The Shops at Columbus Circle.
