Many Performing Arts Organizations Make Masks Optional

A number of performing arts organizations in Lincoln Square have decided that wearing face masks is no longer required. Beginning on October 24th, The Metropolitan OperaNew York PhilharmonicFilm at Lincoln Center, and The Juilliard School dropped their mask mandates. New York City Ballet will drop the mask mandate at Lincoln Center’s David H. Koch Theater on November 1st. Masks are also optional at the Vivian Beaumont Theater, but patrons are still required to wear masks at the Mitzi E. Newhouse and Claire Tow Theaters on the Lincoln Center campus. These organizations joined Jazz at Lincoln Center in making this decision, which stopped requiring masks on August 8th. Mask-wearing is still strongly encouraged, as is being vaccinated, which became optional earlier this fall.
