Register to Vote Deadline 10.8.21

Alternate Side Parking Suspended on 10.11.21

The NYC Department of Parks and Recreation has announced that Alternate Side Parking (street cleaning) regulations will be suspended on Monday, October 11. Meters will remain in effect. Click here to download the NYCASP calendar. 

Citywide Design Engagement Process for Permanent Open Restaurants Program

Department of City Planning (DCP) Director Anita Laremont and Department of Transportation (DOT) Commissioner Hank Gutman have announced an upcoming citywide public engagement process for design rules on permanent outdoor dining setups located on city streets. In-Person and remote roundtables will take place throughout this fall and winter. These discussions will offer opportunities for New Yorkers to share their thoughts on how Open Restaurant structures should be designed. Learn more here.

Free Membership at NYC Recreation Centers

Free membership at City of New York recreation centers is available to any New Yorker who signs up before Friday, December 31. West Side Free Flu Shot Day 10.19.21

Assemblymember Linda Rosenthal will be hosting her annual Free Flu Shot Day on Tuesday, October 19 from 10:00am - 1:00pm. The event will be held at Lincoln Square Neighborhood Center at 250 West 65th Street (between Amsterdam and West End Avenues). Face masks will be required. Open Storefronts Extended

The Open Storefronts program has been extended to Friday, December 31. This program allows storefront businesses to use a portion of the sidewalk to conduct business. If you have a storefront business and you are not yet participating in Open Storefronts, visit nyc.gov/openstorefronts to see the full details and sign up for the program.

New USPS Service Standards Implemented

The United States Postal Service (USPS) have implemented new service standards for first class mail and periodicals — slowing its target delivery time by about 30%. Most First-Class Mail (61 percent) and Periodicals (93 percent) will be unaffected by the new service standard changes. Learn more here.
