Free Breakfast and Lunch for NYC Children

All NYC children ages 18 and under are eligible to receive free breakfast and lunch Mondays through Fridays at meal sites across the City, including the Upper West Side’s Martin Luther King Jr and Brandeis High School campuses. Police Commissioner's Day Of Play Today

Traffic Advisories

For about the next six weekends, 60th Street will be partially closed between Broadway and Columbus Avenue due to a crane operation. Only one lane will be open to vehicular traffic.

Macy's 4th of July Fireworks

The Macy's 4th of July Fireworks show will launch from barges stationed along the East River near Midtown Manhattan. There will be entry points for elevated public viewing areas along the FDR Drive in Manhattan & viewing areas at some Queens & Brooklyn parks. Subway service will be operating on a Saturday schedule with some extra service on the 7 train & 42 Street Shuttle. Bus service near the Fireworks will be rerouted, with extra trips available after the event. Public parking spots will not be available near access points. Zero Waste Act

On June 8, 2023, the City Council voted to approve the Zero Waste Act, a package of bills aimed at reducing the amount of organic waste in landfills. The Zero Waste Act consists of five bills, including the creation of a mandatory organic waste curbside collection program. Residents will be required to separate both yard and organic waste, like food scraps, for regular weekly curbside collection, similar to how recycling must be separated from trash for curbside disposal. DCWP NOH Proposed Penalties

The Department of Consumer and Worker Protection (DCWP) is proposing to amend its rules relating to Single-Use Items, such as eating utensils, condiment packets, napkins, and extra eating containers, and Powered Mobility Devices, including powered bicycles, powered mobility devices, and storage batteries for such devices. DCWP will hold a public hearing on the proposed rules at 11:00am on July 20, 2023. The public hearing will be accessible by phone and video conference. New Air, Water, and Land Quality Maps

The Office of the Comptroller has published new air, water, and land quality maps on its NYC Climate Dashboard. You can check out the interactive maps of the five boroughs here.
