Fordham University Move-In 8.29.21 - 8.31.21

Fordham University Lincoln Center will be having their fall semester student move-in from Sunday, August 29 through Tuesday, August 31. Fordham has permits for the curb lanes on both the north and south sides of West 62nd Street (between Columbus and Amsterdam Avenues) on Sunday only, and for the north and south curb lanes on West 60th Street (between Columbus and Amsterdam Avenues) from Sunday through Tuesday. Both permits are from 6:00am-9:00pm for unloading.

Part of Columbus Avenue to Become an "Open Street"

According to the Columbus Avenue BID and West Side Rag, Columbus Avenue from West 68th to West 77th Streets will close to traffic on Sundays from 10:00am to 9:00pm starting Sunday, August 29 as part of the New York City's Open Streets program. There will be no parking on Columbus during that period. Contact the Columbus Avenue BID for more information at (212) 877-2678.

Help for Haiti

Thanks to a tip from Assembly Member Gottfried, we just learned that all NYPD precincts are collecting medical supplies, personal hygiene products, bottled water, clothing and non-perishable food, baby food and flashlights (and extra batteries) to help in relief efforts for Haiti. Call the 20th Precinct at (212) 580-6411, or your own local precinct, for more information. 

COVID-19 Booster Shot Authorized for Immunocompromised

The New York Department of Health has authorized a 3rd COVID-19 vaccine dose for New Yorkers with compromised immune systems, following the CDC's recommendation. Eligible New Yorkers can receive their 3rd dose 28 days after the completion of their two-dose vaccine series, effective immediately. Learn more here.

DOT RFEI for "Cargo Bicycles and Related Products"

The Department of Transportation has released a RFEI for “Cargo Bicycles and Related Products” to invite interested respondents to aid it with evaluating the utility and performance of commercial cargo bicycles and cargo bicycle-related products with respect to: vehicle and container technology, fleet management and GPS, parking and vehicle storage, charging, safety, and security.

Department of Sanitation Commercial Waste Zone Proposed Rules & Hearing 9.15.21

The Department of Sanitation has released proposed rules relating to Commercial Waste Zones and commercial carters, specifically around waste generation audits. There will be public hearing at 9:30am on Wednesday, September 15. Public comments may be submitted until that time.

CISA has released the fact sheet Protecting Sensitive and Personal Information from Ransomware-Caused Data Breaches to address the increase in malicious cyber actors using ransomware to exfiltrate data and then threatening to sell or leak the exfiltrated data if the victim does not pay the ransom.
