New COVID-19 Booster Vaccines & Flu Shots Are Available

 

New vaccines targeting the latest version of the Omicron variant are available at pharmacies and community health centers. The F.D.A. authorized the Pfizer-BioNTech booster for anyone 12 or older who received an initial vaccination or booster shot at least two months ago. Adults 18 or older can get the Moderna vaccine if it has been at least two months since their last vaccination. The C.D.C. recommended the same eligibility guidelines as the F.D.A. 10/1 & 10/2 - Street Closure on 65th Street

 

West 65th Street between Columbus Avenue and Central Park West will be closed Saturday, October 1st, from 8am to 6pm and Sunday, October 2nd, from 9am to 6pm. For more info, click here.

 

10/7 - 10/9: Curb Lane Closure on Broadway

 

The curb lane on the west side of Broadway between 65th Street and 66th Street will be closed for an interactive car display from Friday, October 7th, through Sunday, October 9th.

 

10/15: "Broadway Bomb" Skateboard Ride Down Broadway

 

The 2022 “Broadway Bomb” is scheduled to take place on Saturday, October 15th. Skateboarders will ride down Broadway beginning at 116th Street all the way down to Wall Street, escorted by NYPD scooter patrol. The group will be traveling at a fast pace down Broadway between 12pm - 1pm. No street closures are expected. You can find more info here.

 

SBS Launches NYC Business Express Service Team (BEST)

 

SBS announced the NYC Business Express Service Team (BEST) initiative, designed to provide small businesses with one-on-one expert support and cut time spent navigating City government. The dedicated NYC BEST team will serve as a single point of contact between City agencies and small businesses operating in the five boroughs. The initiative aims to save small businesses time and money by streamlining the many interactions required with City agencies and providing key advice to help business owners expedite permit and licensing processes and resolve or avoid fines and violations. Cannabis NYC Launched to Support Aspiring Cannabis Entrepreneurs

 

Last month, Mayor Adams and SBS Commissioner Kevin D. Kim announced the launch of Cannabis NYC, a first-of-its-kind initiative and suite of services to support the equitable growth of the cannabis industry in New York City. Housed at SBS, Cannabis NYC will support cannabis entrepreneurs and their workers as the industry develops. The initiative will work with industry stakeholders to create good jobs, successful small businesses, and sustainable economic opportunities, while also addressing the harms of cannabis prohibition. Cannabis NYC services will also include the city’s first-ever technical assistance for Conditional Adult-Use Retail Dispensaries (CAURD) license applicants, as well as other business services to take entrepreneurs beyond licensing to a thriving operation.
