Constellation of Voices in Lincoln Square
Nov 14, 2019Lincoln Square is now home to even more public art, as The Metropolitan Opera has unveiled a new sculpture by American artist George Condo titled "Constellation of Voices."
Placed just to the side of the Met Opera's iconic entrance, the new work is part of its long-running visual arts initiative, Gallery Met, and accessible for all guests who visit the Josie Robertson Plaza. Constellation of Voices is a sculpture cast in aluminum and finished with gold leaf, presented on a custom plinth in faux limestone-surfaced aluminum. The abstract head is inspired by music and the Greek god Apollo, according to the artist in a press statement.
This new sculpture is one of several terrific public art pieces around the neighborhood. Click here to read more about the sculpture in a New York Times article and visit Lincoln Center to enjoy this new art.
