Enjoy Earth Day with Lincoln Square Businesses

Earth Day is coming up on Sunday, April 22 and what better way to commemorate this environmentally conscious day than to participate in fun events and to add environmentally friendly items to your roster of skin care and home goods products.
On Thursday, April 12, head to the second floor of The Shops at Columbus Circle to celebrate Earth Day with participating businesses raising awareness for sustainability. Don't miss exclusive offers, eco-friendly prizes and more! Discover initiatives on how the Clean Ocean Action is keeping our waters clean with Aveda. Receive mini-facials from Sephora and their sustainably sourced facial products. Eileen Fisher will feature their eco-friendly products on display. Plus, win prizes from the Eco Wheel of Sustainability.
Additionally during this Earth Day event, Eileen Fisher on the second floor is hosting an Earth Day event in-store for sewing and sowing. On Thursday, April 12 between 11:00am and 3:00pm, customers can choose items from a pod of Eileen Fisher recycled clothing. The premise is, if you can fix it, you can keep it! Experts will be in-store to help shoppers mend these items. Also, for those more into sowing, you can sow seeds with in-store staff to add herbs to your home garden. Mimosas will also be served for customers.
You can otherwise celebrate Earth Month 2018, too, at Aveda, on the third floor of The Shops at Columbus Circle, with special products and sustainability commitments. Every year, Aveda sells a limited-edition light the way candle and 100% of proceeds from sales of this candle are donated to help water impoverished communities. Aveda also sells great dry shampoo for customers who are looking to cut back on water use. According to Aveda, you can save approximately 6 gallons of water just by cutting out 3 minutes of shower time.
At Kiehl's Since 1851, at 154 Columbus Ave between West 66th and 67th Streets, from Sunday, April 15 to Sunday, April 22, shoppers can receive 4 deluxe skin care samples with a $65 purchase and a free reusable water bottle with a purchase of $100 or more. Plus, Kiehl's has a Recyle and Be Rewarded program, where customers can bring empty full-size bottles and containers from used Kiehl's products back to a store to recycle and receive a stamp for each item. Of course, Earth Day is also an opportunity to bring more greenery into your life. Stop by Lowe's Home Improvement at 2008 Broadway and pick up a new plant for your living space today. Choose from a handful of potted house plants, flowers, succulents, or even herbs. Plus, Lowe's also sells a number of LED bulbs that can replace your older incandescents and help save you energy and money. Likewise, Bed Bath & Beyond at 1932 Broadway is an equally helpful place to shop for energy saving light bulbs.
Honor Earth Day with some environmentally conscious decisions and let Lincoln Square businesses help guide you. And, elsewhere in the city there are two additional opportunities to celebrate Earth Day. On Monday, April 16, NYC Council Speaker Corey Johnson is co-sponsoring the City's Annual Shred Day. This is a great opportunity to shred and recycle sensitive documents from your household. The truck will be parked at 26th Street between 8th and 9th Avenues and Shred Day will take place between 11:00am and 3:00pm, or until the shred truck is full. Then, save the date for the third Annual Car Free Day NYC on Saturday, April 21! In honor of Earth Day, certain areas on the streets of New York City will be open to pedestrians and cyclists only. Uptown, St. Nicholas Avenue from 181st to 190th Streets will be car free, and downtown, Broadway from Union Square to Times Square will be car free.
