Give Back on Giving Tuesday

Today, Tuesday, December 1, marks GivingTuesday. GivingTuesday was created by Henry Timms, the current head of Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts, in 2012 as a simple idea: a day that encourages people to do good. Below are some ways that you can give back to the Lincoln Square community today!

Many organizations are doubling your impact this GivingTuesday! Every dollar you donate will be matched by the following: Chamber Music Society, Museum of Arts and Design, New York Philharmonic, Kaufman Music Center, The Juilliard School, American Folk Art Museum, Metropolitan Opera, and the New York Public Library

Additionally, here are some other businesses and organizations that are accepting donations for GivingTuesday: Thomas Keller Restaurant Relief Fund, the YMCA of Greater New YorkFordham University, Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts, Jazz at Lincoln Center, Film at Lincoln Center, and the School of American Ballet

The need for toys for NYC children whose families are struggling is greater this year than it has been in decades. Starbucks at 63rd Street and Broadway is holding a Toys for Tots Toy Drive. You can donate a new toy online, and all toys ordered online will be shipped directly to the Toys for Tots New York City after the drive ends. Donate a toy here. And, New York City Council Speaker Corey Johnson is holding a Holiday Toy Drive at his office at 224 West 30th Street, Suite 1206 (between 7th and 8th Avenues). You can drop off toys either on Tuesday, December 1 or Tuesday, December 8 from 12:00pm-5:00pm.
