Dear Henry:

I hope you are doing well and staying healthy. I think it is obvious to say that we all really miss Lincoln Center and the vibrancy that you bring to our district. We look forward to the days when your patrons and tourists fill our sidewalks, streets, parks, and restaurants again. We are thankful, as are our residents and followers, for your great online programming, which helps fill the void.

I hate to do business, but I must. The Board decided that, in spite of COVID-19, we would not let our Broadway Malls and urban gardens fall into barren weed filled spaces the way they did in the aftermath of the City’s fiscal crisis in the 1970s. With the help of many dedicated supporters, including Lincoln Center since we began the program in 1999, we have been able to transform our Malls and our district. Many of your patrons remember what the Malls and our parks looked like! Our landscaping company has been out working throughout the PAUSE, performing ongoing horticultural maintenance, watering very frequently, and recently planting a vibrant summer display after our tulips bloomed. Now, more than ever, our colorful planters and healthy shrubs bring life to our quiet sidewalks. It is critical that we focus on our core services of clean, safe, and beautiful, and support business and cultural recovery.

We are pleased to report that all of the sponsors we have reached out to so far have agreed to continue supporting this program, recognizing the key role beautification plays in Lincoln Square. Last year, shortly after you took over Lincoln Center, you also recognized the importance of our efforts and supported our program again, and we are deeply grateful. I know how committed you are to making the area around Lincoln Center unique and inviting for your constituency. Lincoln Center’s support is critical to the success of our program and we hope that you will join our other great sponsors in continuing to support our efforts. Please see the attached appeal regarding the Lincoln Square BID’s Streetscape & Beautification Program. And, click here to see some wonderful photos of our malls as well as the district during COVID-19!

Let me know if you have any questions.

I hope we can count on your continued support!

Sincerely,

Monica

P.S.  Thanks for your encouraging response to my nudge!
