Guide to Summer Camps 2022

The days are getting longer, weather is getting warmer, and before you know it, it will be summer! If you’re looking for summer camps for your children, check out what Lincoln Square has to offer.

If your child loves to perform, register them for the 2022 Summer Musical Theater Workshop at Kaufman Music Center’s Lucy Moses School. From Tuesday, July 5 through Thursday, August 4, kids age 6-15 work with professional theater directors, writers and choreographers to create original musicals and take classes in acting, singing and dancing. The West Side Y offers a few summer day camp options for children. Check out their Traditional Summer Day Camp for kids ages 6-12, their Kinder Camp for ages 4-5, their Sports Camp for ages 7-12, and their Swim Camp for ages 7-12. The camps run from Tuesday, July 5 through Friday, August 26 and are booked for two week sessions at a time. Learn more and register here. The early bird registration deadline is Saturday, April 30.

The Marlene Myerson JCC offers two summer camps. The Day Camp @ the JCC focuses on age-appropriate developmental skills, with new specialty options added each year to meet campers' growing needs. The Day Camp @ the JCC serves children ages 3-6 and runs from Tuesday, June 21 through Thursday, August 11. Participants have the choice between doing a half session or a full session of the camp. Learn more and register here. The JCC also runs Camp Settoga, which offers NYC campers ages 4-12 room to grow, explore and discover outdoor adventures on 21 acres in Pamona, New York. The camp’s full session runs from Tuesday, June 28 through Sunday, August 28, but campers have the option of choosing shorter sessions as well. Click here to learn more and register.

The Ethical Culture Fieldston School provides various summer camp for children of all ages. Check out camps like the Fieldston Future Leaders camp for rising first to eight graders, the Fieldston Future Leaders Mini camp for rising pre-k and kindergartners, the Fieldston Sports camp for rising kindergartners to eighth graders, the Premier Sports camp for rising kindergartners to ninth graders, and the Fieldston Volleyball camp for rising fourth to twelfth graders. If your kid is an animal-lover, sign them up for the Central Park Zoo summer camp. Central Park Zoo offers different day camps that provide unforgettable experiences for your camper including age-appropriate, hands-on activities, up-close animal experiences, time to explore the park and tons of educational fun that builds on campers' innate love for the planet. And the City is bringing back their Summer Rising program for kids grades K-8. Students will engage with peers and caring adults to experience all that our city has to offer. Summer Rising combines academic support and school-based enrichment programming led by Community Based Organizations (CBOs), and students will have daily opportunities to play, create, explore, and develop new interests. All current K-8 NYC students are eligible to enroll in Summer Rising. Information on enrollment is set to be released in April, but in the meantime, click here to learn more on the program.

High school students can participate in the City’s Summer Youth Employment Program, which is open for youth between the ages of 14 and 24. Participants have the opportunity to explore their interests and career pathways, develop workplace skills and engage in learning experiences that help in developing their social, civic and leadership skills.
