Honoring Rosa Mexicano's Josefina Howard

In honor of Women's History Month, a local Lincoln Square restaurant is celebrating the legacy of its founder. In 1984, chef and entrepreneur Josefina Howard introduced New York City to Mexican fine dining with Rosa Mexicano. A worldly and passionate person, Josefina developed delicious recipes dedicated to celebrating Mexican culture. 

Josefina Howard was posthumously honored on Monday, March 4 for her culinary and cultural innovations with a proclamation issued by New York City Council Speaker Corey Johnson's office. To celebrate both Rosa Mexicano's 35th Anniversary and Women's History Month, a portrait of Josefina created by Nestor Madalengoitia (pictured above) will be placed in all of Rosa's four locations across the city permenantly. As the second restaurant location, Lincoln Square's Rosa Mexicano (located at 61 Columbus Avenue at 62nd Street) was a huge part of Josefina's story.
