On Tuesday, December 8th from 6:00-7:15pm, join long-time friend of the Lincoln Square BID John Tauranac for a virtual program entitled How to Map Your Local Subway, hosted by Landmark West!

There have been many approaches to mapping the NYC subway, and helping us get from point A to B is the fun part for people like Upper West Sider, historian and map maker John Tauranac. He’ll share historic subway maps and guide us through mapping lows and highs-including his own brand new map! Whether you’re a fan of design, maps, history, or puzzle-solving, you’ll enjoy this fascinating trip through the NYC subway system!

In addition to his work on the NYC subway map, John Tauranac designed our first district map in 1998. Check out John’s 2002 version of the Lincoln Square Map here. We are proud of our association and friendship with John Tauranac, which spans more two decades. And Lincoln Square isn’t the only neighborhood he’s mapped! In his book, Manhattan Block by Block: A Street Atlas, he mapped hotels, houses of worship, cultural institutions, and other places of interest throughout the entire borough. If you’re looking for a great holiday gift for your New York-obsessed loved ones, we highly recommend this classic piece of New York history.

Tickets are free for LW! Members and pay-what-you-will for non-members. Reserve your tickets to this exciting event here.
