To pay tribute to the resilience of New York City and its people, reflecting hope and the anticipation for the future, Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts has released “Invictus,” a new composition by Anthony Barfield. Composed for a 15-piece brass ensemble, "Invictus" is an anthem for New York City in this unique moment in time.

Weaving together elements of gospel, jazz, classical, and hip hop, "Invictus" brings together brass players of different stylistic backgrounds from across Lincoln Center's campus—the MET Orchestra Musicians, the New York Philharmonic, The Juilliard School, Jazz at Lincoln Center, New York City Ballet Orchestra, and the Mostly Mozart Festival Orchestra. This is the first time in history that musicians from all of these organizations have performed together. Barfield conducts the live, socially distanced performance, which was filmed outdoors on Lincoln Center's campus on August 7, 2020.
