Lincoln Square's Lunar New Year Specials

It's the year of the Rat! There are a number of ways to commemorate the Chinese New Year across the city, and Lincoln Square is no exception. The new year begins on Saturday, January 25, and there are a number of shopping deals, activities, and more that will take place around the holiday. 

Shun Lee West at 43 West 65th Street is offering a special Chinese New Year dinner menu from Friday, January 24 through Saturday, February 1. For $88 per person, guests can enjoy a 5-course tasting menu, featuring a selection of savory appetizers, classic Beijing Duck, braised Short Ribs, tiramisu, and more. You can also celebrate the Lunar New Year - and welcome the Year of the Rat - with the New York Philharmonic! On Tuesday, January 28 at David Geffen Hall, experience the US Premiere of Zhou Tian's Gift and the New York Premiere of Texu Kim's ping pong-inspired Spin-Flip. Plus, watch rising superstar Haochen Zhang in Gershwin's Rhapsody in Blue and Gil Shaham in Chen Gang and He Zhanhao's The Butterfly Lovers, Violin Concerto, and more. Click here for ticket information. 

Between Friday, January 24 and Saturday, February 8 enjoy a number of special offers at the Mandarin Oriental, New York (80 Columbus Circle): at the Aviary NYC, enjoy The Jade Rat specialty cocktail in celebration of the Lunar New Year. The cocktail is a creative twist on the traditional Jade Chinese cocktail that is emerald color and served in a smoky glass; the Spa at the Mandarin Oriental is offering an 80-minute Year of Opulence Massage, which is meant to help the body reset by releasing the previous year. The treatment is $355 for weekdays and $370 on weekends. Inside of The Shops at Columbus Circle, there are some shopping specials to take advantage of as well as some special events in celebration of the Lunar New Year. 

• On Sunday, January 26 enjoy free spectacular Lion Dance performances by the New York Chinese Cultural Center on the second floor of The Shops.
