Looking Ahead: Cultural Programming in July

Summer has just begun, and there is already an amazing lineup of cultural programming to look forward to over the next month!

qgvotomlobf2o6mmrd3h Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts has announced their July programming for Restart Stages. Highlights include Silent Discos on the GREEN every Friday starting July 9; the first in-person Lincoln Center Activate event, “Make a Joyful Noize” on Thursday, July 15; the first live public performance of “To Be Baptized” to commemorate the one-year anniversary of the passing of civil rights leaders John Lewis and C.T. Vivian on Saturday, July 17; and more. Additionally, there will be a sculpture and sound installation called You Are Here, which includes live performances that "take on the processing and sharing of this past year, bringing together story, dance, song, and reflection from members within the Lincoln Center family—including an educator, an usher, a security guard, an opera singer, a NYCB apprentice, all alongside awe-inspiring New Yorkers from across the city." View the entire Restart Stages lineup here.

image-10-min-920x517-c-default Film at Lincoln Center has announced the full lineup of festival, repertory and new release programming for the 2021 summer season. Highlights include returning annual festivals Dance on Camera and the New York Asian Film Festival; a revival of Jafar Panahi’s newly remastered Crimson Gold (NYFF41); exciting new releases such as Hong Sangsoo’s playful comedy The Woman Who Ran; Tsai Ming-liang’s Berlinale prizewinner Days; Ailey, Jamila Wignot’s celebratory documentary about visionary choreographer Alvin Ailey (with a sneak preview on Saturday, July 12 as part of Lincoln Center’s Restart Stages initiative). And as previously announced, Big Screen Summer: NYFF58 Redux continues, featuring limited runs and other highlights from last year’s festival, in theaters for the first time. Swing into summer with Jazz at Lincoln Center! They have announced more than a dozen live outdoor concerts throughout New York City, as well as a lineup of online educational programs. Notably, on Thursdays at 7:00pm from July 8 through September 30, they will be performing free Jazz in Times Square concerts. And streaming from Saturday, June 26 through Sunday, July 18, join the WeBop Family Jazz Band for ¡Vamos a Gozar! A Latin Jazz Jam, a bilingual fiesta celebrating Latin Jazz rhythms recommended for children 8-months to 8-years old. Visit Jazz at Lincoln Center’s website for more information on upcoming events.

Additionally, NYC Department of Parks and Recreation will be hosting a number of free events throughout the season. We are looking forward to a fantastic, musical summer!
