MAD Reopening This Month

The Museum of Arts and Design (MAD) will officially reopen this month, on Thursday, September 17, welcoming patrons back with some great installations and exhibits. The museum will be open from Thursdays – Sundays, 11:00am to 7:00pm, with one hour reserved for members and seniors on Thursdays and Fridays from 11:00am to noon. Guests will be required to purchase timed tickets, which you can learn more about here. MAD also has a number of additional safety guidelines listed on its website, including capacity limits, mask requirement, and more. Tickets for general admission will be $18, with discounts for seniors and students, plus frontline health-care workers may present their ID at the Visitor Services desk or contact to receive free admission. MAD’s exhibit beginning September 17 is Brian Clarke: The Art of Light, which will run through Sunday, February 21. This is an exhibition of more than 100 works of stained glass, compositions in lead, and related drawings, animated by changing light and illustrating the innovative impact of artist Brian Clarke. There is also an upcoming exhibition by Beth Lipman featuring glass, metal, clay, video, and photographs which address mortality, temporality, identity, and excess. Click here to read more.
