More Music to Enjoy in Lincoln Square

Are you looking for some local music events? Outside of major events, there are many fun and low-cost performances from our cultural organizations! Check out the highlights, including an in-person listening opportunity, from the current line-ups below.

The Juilliard School hosts free livestream performances featuring a variety of different musical experiences. This next week, enjoy Wednesdays at One: Chamber Ensembles on Wednesday, March 24 at 1:00pm; Philip Anthony Barrington, Trumpet on Thursday, March 25 at 5:30pm; and, on Friday, March 26, Kate Liu, Piano at 5:00pm, Dominic Law, Double Bass at 6:00pm, and Ian Matthew Castro, Tenor at 9:00pm. Join the American Folk Art Museum (AFAM) for their critically acclaimed performance series, Free Music Fridays, now streaming on AFAM’s Facebook page at 6:00pm. Music featured at the Free Music Fridays series thematically reflects the spirit of self-taught art on view at the museum. The next performance will be Friday, April 9. Find more information here.

The Lucy Moses School at Kaufman Music Center offers virtual performances filmed in Merkin Hall. Check out the Fast Forward: 2021 Henry Schneider Concert on Thursday, April 1 at 7:00pm. The performance features rising star performers from the Lucy Moses School, and the suggested donation for the event is $15. View their entire event calendar here.

Save the date! The Young People's Chorus of New York City (YPC) is having a Virtual Spring Gala on Monday, May 10 at 7:30pm. This year's theme, Opportunity Reimagined, features over 600 children from YPC’s after-school choruses in a fully-choreographed performance. The choristers will be joined by Artistic Honoree Lang Lang and other special surprise guests. Learn more here. 

And, Chamber Music Society hosts virtual musical programming through their current Front Row Series. This week, check out International Quartet Series: Schumann Quartet on Thursday, March 26 at 7:30pm and Inspector Pulse@Home: Parallel Universe on Friday March 26 at 11:00am. If you are looking for a live, in-person musical experience, Jupiter Symphony hosts a 20-concert series at Good Shepherd Presbyterian Church (152 West 66th Street between Amsterdam Avenue and Broadway) on Mondays at 2:00pm and 7:30pm, with seating limited to 25% capacity. Tickets cost $25 for front seats, $17 for middle seats and $10 for back seats and must be reserved ahead of time.
