New York City Economic Development Corporation (NYCEDC) is working alongside the New York City Department of Small Business Services (SBS) and other City Agencies to help support businesses in NYC through this difficult economic time. As such, please see below for the City’s latest initiatives that may be helpful to the business community.

Restaurant Support

Do you need help designing your restaurant’s outdoor dining space? NYCEDC has launched a new initiative that connects restaurants to pro bono design services to help improve their outdoor dining space. In collaboration with NYCxDESIGN, AIA New York, and Design Advocates, Design Corps: Small Business Recovery Network helps restaurants adapt to safety guidelines and ensure compliance. The Design Corps website connects restaurant owners to volunteer design professionals to help maximize their use of space and create a safe dining experience. Restaurant owners and design professionals who are interested in participating can go to nycxdesign.com/design-corps to register and then self-connect to discuss the specific needs of the space.

Small Business Resource Network

In a collaboration with SBS, Partnership for NY, Peterson Foundation and Five Borough Chambers of Commerce, NYCEDC has launched the NYC Small Business Resource Network to provide personalized guidance and recovery resources to small businesses across the city.  Businesses can sign up for the NYC Small Business Resource Network here.

Return to Work – Occupancy Survey

In order to gauge the pace of health and New York City’s economic recovery and implications for long-term planning, NYCEDC and other City agencies have developed a two-minute Return to Work – Occupancy Survey. The survey is for businesses to share the number of employees that were in the office, working remotely, or a mix both pre-COVID and over the last week. The survey will be shared every couple of weeks to capture data and changes to occupancy over time. Data will be aggregated and anonymized when reported. No information on individual companies will be released. If you have any questions about the survey, please reach out to cyoder@edc.nyc.
