National Pizza Day

Feb 6, 2019
National Pizza Day
Who doesn't love a good pizza? Saturday, February 9 is National Pizza Day, the perfect excuse to enjoy a slice--or five! Hang out in Lincoln Square and grab some delicious pizza.

On Broadway between 69th and 70th Streets, Gina La Fornarina (2028 Broadway) is home to a menu that offers a few delicious gourmet pizza options, including a Prosciutto & Fig pie with special cream of parmigiano. Gina La Fornarina began its restaurant roots with pizza, so it's worth a try for the occasion. Click here to browse the restaurant's Italian food menu.

The modern Italian spot, Cafe Fiorello at 1900 Broadway, is another dining option great for  tasty, thin-crust pizzas. Choose a pizza with sausage, mushroom, and truffle cream or a classic pizza margherita, with several more options for lunch and dinner. Click here to browse the menus.

If you'd rather just enjoy a slice on the go as you're shopping in the neighborhood, pop down to Whole Foods Market Columbus Circle and check out the pizza by the slice selection at the hot food bar. Located in the basement of The Shops at Columbus Circle, the pizza options are plenty and a brick oven heats up each slice before you carry it away.

Just outside of our district boundaries, long-time Winter's Eve participant Francesco's Pizzeria & Restaurant serves pizza both by the slice at a take out counter and full pies. They have traditional pizza options plus some interesting ones like the I Love Lucy Pie or the Drunken Grandma pizza. Francesco's is located at 186 Columbus Avenue between 68th and 69th Streets. Click here for menu options.

And, for all of the home chefs interested in celebrating National Pizza Day, head to Whole Foods Market (The Shops at Columbus Circle) or Gourmet Garage (155 West 66th Street) for delicious ingredients. Gourmet Garage offers a selection of specialty cheeses and fresh produce and Whole Foods Market offers many organic ingredients and pre-made pizza dough. Both spots are ideal for at home pizza making purchases.

Bon appetit!
