Starting Monday, January 24, new legislation regulating the online third-party food delivery service ("delivery apps") industry begins going into effect in NYC. Every third-party food delivery service will now need a license from the Department of Consumer and Worker Protection (DCWP) to operate in NYC. Read the Third-Party Food Delivery Service License Application Checklist and apply online now. There will also be new requirements for restaurants, including requiring restaurants to include a provision that allows delivery workers to access restaurant bathrooms, with limited exceptions for health or safety reasons, in written agreements with delivery apps. Learn more on restaurants' rights and responsibilities here.
