Pride Events in Lincoln Square
Not only is June Pride Month in NYC, but this year marks the 50th Anniversary of the Stonewall Uprising and coincides with NYC being chosen as the destination for World Pride 2019. It's an exciting month to be in the City! Here in Lincoln Square, several events will commemorate the month-long celebration of Pride.

Tharp Trio; American Ballet Theater, The Metropolitan Opera
Thursday, May 30 - Monday, June 3
Few choreographers have had as profound an impact on American dance as Twyla Tharp. In these three acts, classic ballet mixes with modern forms, showing why Tharp is considered a master of movement. This variety is supported by the classic scores of Brahms and Haydn, the chill vibes of 1960s beach rock, and the compelling modern aesthetic of Phillip Glass.

John Corigliano's Symphony No. 1; New York Philharmonic, David Geffen Hall
Thursday, May 30 & Saturday, June 1
Experience John Corigliano's personal dedication to loved ones lost and the many impacted by the widespread AIDS epidemic of the 1980s. Jaap van Zweden conducts and is joined by Pianist David Fray for Mozart's introspective Piano Concerto No. 24. Panels from the Nobel Peace Prize-nominated AIDS Memorial Quilt - inscribed with the names of AIDS victims by audience members at the 1992 Philharmonic performances of John Corigliano's First Symphony - will be on display in the lobby of David Geffen Hall during these performances, which are part of the official celebrations of the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall uprising, under the auspices of the Stonewall 50 Consortium.

New York City Opera presents: Stonewall; Jazz at Lincoln Center, Rose Theater
Friday, June 21 - Friday, June 28; various days
Commemorating the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall uprising and the beginning of the modern LGBTQ civil rights movement, Stonewall is an explosive new American opera that captures the rage, grit, humor and, finally, hope of the LGBTQ+ community's uprising in a Greenwich Village dance club on one hot night in June 1969. The work follows a diverse group of characters whose lives collided at that pivotal moment in history when they found the courage to fight back.

DiscoVogue; Midsummer Night Swing, Damrosch Park
Thursday, June 27
As part of the Midsummer Night Swing series at Lincoln Center, show your pride at DiscoVogue - a show Celebrating WorldPride NYC and the month-long, citywide commemoration of the 50th anniversary of Stonewall. Ahead of the weekend's NYC Pride March, this celebration will feature an extended live set by Escort as well as house and club tracks provided by East Village icon DJ Lina and underground sensation MikeQ and members of the Qween Beat collective.
