Put Some Tax Prep In Your Step

With Tax Season underway, the Department of Consumer Affairs (DCA) has an interactive map which outlines all of the spots around the City where New Yorker's can get help filing taxes. This map and these site locations are part of NYC Free Tax Prep, which encourages New Yorkers who earned $66,000 or less to file their taxes for free. Services include online filing and in-person filing with an IRS certified VITA/TCE volunteer preparer at more than 150 NYC Free Tax Prep sites. From now through Thursday, April 11, the NYPL's Riverside Branch, at 127 Amsterdam Avenue (at 65th Street), is hosting tax prep with AARP to help you prepare and file your tax return electronically for free. These services are available weekly on Thursdays from 11:00am to 3:00pm. To participate in this program, you must have a valid e-mail address and bring all necessary documents.
