Recent Burglaries in Lincoln Square

While crime has been trending downward in the 20th Precinct for over two months, there has been a citywide trend of increased burglaries. This includes here in Lincoln Square, where two restaurants have experienced burglaries in the past few weeks.

The first burglary occurred on Saturday, May 2. That morning, our Public Safety Supervisor observed the front doors at Café Fiorello at 1900 Broadway damaged after apparently having been forced open. Our Supervisor called 911, and the 20th Precinct responded within minutes and eventually confirmed that a male did in fact force the doors open at approximately 8:15am on Saturday morning. We understand nothing was taken, and our Neighborhood Coordination Officers (NCOs) were able to obtain surveillance footage of the perpetrator.

Then, on Tuesday, May 19, we were notified by our NCOs from the 20th Precinct that The Smith, also at 1900 Broadway, was burglarized twice by the same individual last week - on Wednesday, May 13 and Friday, May 15. The individual only took bottles of liquor from the restaurant. In both new instances, we understand that the suspect gained entry to the restaurant at approximately 8:00am through a back door, accessible through the garage inside the building. This individual is also suspected of having burglarized another restaurant, 8th Hill, on 77th Street and Columbus Avenue on Tuesday, May 19.

Our Director of Operations, Phil Gordon, has been working directly with the NYPD on these burglaries, and our Public Safety team continues to patrol and keep a watchful eye on the neighborhood. We will continue to update the community on any future incidents that may occur.

See below for photos of the suspect that were forwarded to us by our NCOs. If you see the pictured individual in the area, please call 911. You can contact the NYPD's 20th Precinct at (212) 580-6411.
