Remembering Betty White at NYPLPA

Known as the "First Lady of Television", Betty White was a beloved actress and for many a household name. Through March, the New York Public Library for the Performing Arts joins the outpouring of affection shown in the wake of her recent death with a special pop-up installation.

White began her career as a radio performer, starred in some of the first-ever sitcoms, and was the first female producer of a sitcom. She became beloved for her roles as Sue Ann in The Mary Tyler Moore Show, and as Rose in Golden Girls. Later in life, White still found success in her 80s and 90s—a feat you don't often see in Hollywood. The “Remembering Betty White” installation features photographs of Betty White from the Billy Rose Theatre Division that document her most popular television roles, a lesser-known stage role, and her induction into the Television Hall of Fame. It also includes unique ephemera from White's life and acting career.

The New York Public Library for the Performing Arts is located at 40 Lincoln Center Plaza (entrance at 111 Amsterdam between 64th and 65th). Visit the exhibit in the Shelby Cullom Davis Museum, Third Floor Display, now through Thursday, March 31. The Library is open Monday through Saturday from 10:30am to 6:00pm (closed Sunday).
