One of New York’s favorite summer traditions, Shakespeare in the Park, is returning this summer to Central Park! Performances will begin on Monday, July 5 and have an extended run through Saturday, September 18 at the Delacorte Theater.

The Public Theater plans to stage Merry Wives, an adaptation of The Merry Wives of Windsor, featuring an all-Black cast. Set in South Harlem amidst a vibrant and eclectic community of West African immigrants, Merry Wives will be a celebration of Black joy, laughter, and vitality.

Performances held at the Delacorte Theater will have limited capacity in order to follow State guidelines. All spectators over the age of 2 must wear a mask and present either a complete vaccination certificate or a recent negative test.

Tickets will be free and limited to two per person, and will be distributed entirely through a digital lottery hosted on a platform called Goldstar. The lottery will accept entries online and through an app on Tuesday and Fridays for the performances scheduled for the following week. Entries will be accepted starting on Tuesday, June 29.
