Styling: Black Expression, Rebellion, and Joy Through Fashion

Just south of our district boundaries, Nordstrom’s NYC flagship store has an exhibit on display through Thursday, October 29. The exhibit, Styling: Black Expression, Rebellion, and Joy Through Fashion, explores contemporary Black style and its cultural significance featuring the work of 15 contemporary Black artists. Presented in partnership with Long Gallery Harlem and curated by Souleo, the exhibition celebrates the legacy of using personal style to channel self-expression, rebellion, and joy as inspired by movements such as the Harlem Renaissance. Paintings, photography and wearable art are displayed on each level of the store, visible as customers travel up the main escalator, and are available for sale.
