It's tax season! But don't worry, the Department of Consumer Affairs (DCA) has an interactive map which outlines all of the spots around the City where New Yorker's can get help filing taxes. This map and these site locations are part of NYC Free Tax Prep, which encourages New Yorkers who earned $45,000 or less to file their taxes for free ($65,000 or less for family income) with an IRS certified VITA/TCE volunteer. Click here to view the DCA map and get more information about filing and eligibility. You can also prepare and file your federal income tax return for free using tax preparation and filing software through IRS Free File.

Also, from now through Thursday, April 9, the NYPL's Riverside Branch, at 127 Amsterdam Avenue (at 65th Street), is hosting AARP Tax-Aide: Free Tax Assistance and Preparation to help you prepare and file your tax return electronically for free. These services are available weekly on Thursdays from 11:00am to 3:00pm. To participate in this program, you must have a valid e-mail address and bring all necessary documents. Click here for more information from AARP.

Additional Tax-Aide locations nearby include the Hamilton Senior Center (111 West 71 Street) and the Westside Campaign Against Hunger (263 West 86th Street).
