The Nutcracker is Back On-stage This Holiday Season

The holiday season in Lincoln Square is synonymous with the annual production of George Balanchine’s The Nutcracker® by the New York City Ballet (NYCB). And this year it’s back on stage for a 47-performance run from Friday, November 26 through Sunday, January 2, 2022.

One of the most complex theatrical, staged ballets in the Company's active repertory, The Nutcracker features grand visual effects, like the famous giant growing Christmas tree, and the Company’s entire roster of dancers and musicians, as well as two alternating casts of children from the School of American Ballet (SAB), the official school of New York City Ballet. The ballet provides an unforgettable spark to everyone's holiday season.

The first performance will take place on Friday, November 26 at 8:00pm at the David H. Koch Theater on Lincoln Center’s campus. Subsequent performances will take place at different times depending on the day, so check out the entire schedule of performances and purchase tickets here. Check out the ballet’s discover page to read fun facts, a synopsis, and history of George Balanchine’s The Nutcracker®.

Audience members who are eligible for vaccination will need to present proof of vaccination to be admitted to the theater. Young children and those who are not able to be vaccinated because of a medical reason or sincerely held religious belief, will be permitted to attend performances with proof of a negative PCR test taken no more than 72 hours before the performance. As a further tool to mitigate the spread of COVID-19, NYCB will require proper mask usage for all patrons, regardless of age or vaccination status, at all New York City Ballet performances. Contact NYCB for more detailed information on tickets and safety.
