Update to NYS Vaccine & Mask Protocols

On Wednesday, February 9 Governor Kathy Hochul announced that the temporary protocol that required businesses to ask for proof of full vaccination or require mask wearing at all times will be lifted as of Thursday, February 10.

Statewide mask requirements are still in effect at the following:

  • State-regulated health care settings
  • State-regulated adult care facilities & nursing facilities
  • Correctional facilities
  • Schools & childcare facilities
  • Homeless shelters
  • Domestic violence shelters
  • Buses & bus stations, trains & train stations & subway stations, planes & airports

Counties, cities and businesses can still choose to require masks.

With that said, the Key to NYC vaccination requirements remain in effect for the five boroughs as of now. The only modification is that under the Key to NYC program, the definition of “vaccinated” does not require a 2 week waiting period after receiving the vaccination. In NYC, people ages 5 to 11 are required to show proof of at least one COVID-19 vaccine dose at any time prior to entering an indoor dining, indoor fitness or indoor entertainment establishment, and people 12 and older must show proof of two doses (except for Johnson & Johnson recipients).
