Women's History Month Events 2022

It’s Women’s History Month, and there are a number of events honoring the stories and legacies of women across the city in the coming weeks. Check out a list of some city-based or nearby activities.

Goddard Riverside Community Center: Every March, during Women’s History Month, Goddard Riverside’s Community Arts program hosts an exciting month-long arts festival celebrating female artists and perspectives. The Women’s History Artist Month festival — WHAM — showcases a wide range of local independent artists and helps raise vital funding for the Performing Arts Conservatory. The festival will also feature an art exhibit – Women’s Work: The Challenge of Making Our Mark – with work from 18 women and celebrate the start of the W.H.A.M. season. Click here to view WHAM’s website and all of the upcoming festival events. Many events will take place at The Bernie Wohl Center at Goddard Riverside (647 Columbus Ave).

Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts: Lincoln Center is spotlighting women in the arts at the re-opened David Rubenstein Atrium (61 West 62nd Street) with some free in-person events, including electric K-Pop and Hip-Hop dance nights and a trilingual family show—all featuring artists who identify as women. You can also explore Lincoln Center’s collection of ground-breaking on-demand performances and talks amplifying women's voices and artistic perspectives. Click here for more information.

The New York Public Library: Join The New York Public Library (NYPL) during Women's History Month for events and programs including live author talks and panels, book discussions, and more. Explore events and programs here, where you can filter by audience type. The events will take place at various library locations across the city. Women’s History Month celebrations will also include The Schomburg Center’s 30th Annual Women’s Jazz Festival, which spotlights Black women in the field of jazz. In addition to events, you can honor women’s history month through the NYPL’s archives, book recommendations, and much more, like a guide to Trailblazing Women. Fidelity Investments: Join Fidelity during Women's History Month for a series of free, virtual events that will bring together special guests, Fidelity leaders, and a community of women to get to the real talk about money and what it means to invest like a woman. The events take place on March 8, 16, and 31. Click here to register for the Women Talk Money series. Fidelity Investments has a Lincoln Square location at Broadway and 61st Street.

Fordham University: The University has released a list of events for Women's History Month which you can view here. Some of the events are open to the public, including a webinar series on Violence Against Migrant Women. And something worth noting: a bit of history is currently being written in Lincoln Square with the appointment of a new President-elect at Fordham University. President-Elect Tania Tetlow, J.D. will be the first layperson and the first woman to occupy the post in Fordham’s 181-year history. She will take office on July 1, 2022. Click here to view a video message from President-elect Tetlow herself

New-York Historical Society: Presented live on Zoom by the New Amsterdam History Center and the New-York Historical Society’s Center for Women’s History, join in for a conversation about  the social role of women in New Netherland, Brazil, and other places in the expanding Dutch world of the 17th-century on Monday, March 26 from 6:00pm – 7:30pm. Click here to register for The Dutch Golden Age: Women’s Lives in New Amsterdam and Beyond.

NYC Department of Parks & Recreation: Throughout March, celebrate the long arc of women's history with Urban Park Ranger-led tours, gallery exhibitions, concerts, and art programs in NYC’s parks across the city. Click here to view a list of events. All of the events are free.
